The 409 Crew has been around as long as House music has been a part of the Boston scene. With the longest running underground night ("Hump" Wednesdays at the Phoenix Landing) and a hot series of afterhours parties (the Redlights), the 409 folks make up a good bulk of the glue that holds the electronic music scene together in the Beantown. Chuck Caseroc is the number one Househead strictly for the Househeads. He keeps it tight with splashes of the old school, from Deep to party-flavored floor rockers. Shannon Shalako (also chief of Redlight Productions) dips into all 4/4 style dancefloor beats, but heats things up most with his tasteful Trance and Techno selections. Dave Skye, after returning to Boston last year after a stay in Arizona, has warmed up the floors with his style of harder and more progressive House, not straying far from the Deep Boston flavorings. Kid Ray (Chris Ramos) keeps it true to the Boston Deep House sound, working in the floor-friendly freaky Disco touch at will.

DJ Fran (Francis Englehardt) is the Boston Deep House standard. He has been part of the sound since along side Armand Van Helden and DJ Bruno during the legendary "Loft" days. Now producing under the Universal Tongues moniker, he also co-manages Boston based Ritual Recordings, and graces the decks at the popular Deep House night "Life" at the Lava Bar. He has also recently been made a resident at the internationally acclaimed Axis night "Chrome" (Thursdays).

DJ Courtney has recently been making a name for herself in the Boston scene. A Portland, Oregon import via New York City, she walked into residencies at Karma ("Sonic" Fridays) and The Phoenix Landing ("Sedated" Tuesdays) where she demonstrates talent in the Tribal House and Trip Hop/Downtempo genres, respectively. Courtney also runs the Contrast booking agency out of New York.

The Shadow Kings (Yahn and Kelvin) have also been players in the Deep House Boston sound for many years. They have run many successful nights out of Boston and Providence, RI, but currently don't have any running. They also have had releases on labels such as Gossip and Biscuithead Records.

"Elements" (Thursdays at The Phoenix Landing) has become the standard forum for Drum 'n Bass in the Boston area. Residents Crook (A.P Science), Lenore (Next Level), and Rando keep 'em jumpin' with everything breakbeat from atmospheric to the hard Tech Step flavorings popular on the D'n B floors of late.
